Talking Nonsense - EGGciting Times Ahead

Happy Friday everyone!

On a normal week, I tend to find Friday creeps up on me, probably because I never have enough time to get everything ticked off my to-do list. However, this week has been a real "slump' week for me; I've lacked energy and my productivity has been fairly non-existent. I'm sure we all know the feeling!

I think on the outside I seem like I've got all my little fluffy, happy ducks in a row all the time, sprinting around between business, Woody and in this case actual running (to Blair for our fundraiser). But oh no, not this week. I think my ducks must have gotten confused by the miserable weather and headed South for the winter already.

On Wednesday I took a morning off and just sat down, which is unheard of during the week. I had a bit of a sore head but honestly, I just needed the morning to regroup and muster up some energy. We all need some quiet time sometimes. Luckily, I seem to have located the aforementioned ducks now who have agreed to put the migration on hold for a little longer. So I'm back to work with a bang, as we launched our brand new competition today which gives you the chance to win a new Apt Cavalier saddle cloth. Click here for the deets: Win an AC saddle cloth

So, what do I do when I need to stop running around like a headless chicken for a minute (sorry about all the poultry references btw)? I enjoy reading, novels mostly. I am guilty of getting FAR too wrapped up in the story and the characters and can often be sad and/or dissatisfied when the book is over. I am rarely happy with the ending but I guess an ending is probably the hardest part to write. Oh, the curses of being creative!!

My new year's resolution this year was to read one book per month and I'm actually ahead of schedule, having read seven so far:

1. The Great Gatsby (a classic but the film was better)
2. Stay Close by Harlan Coben
3. You Let Me In by Lucy Clarke
4. Stranger Child by Rachel Abbott (very good)
5. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins (a must-read)
6. When God Was A Rabbit (my favourite book and I've read it four times)
7. The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes by Suzanne Collins

I'm a bookworm at heart - I LOVE reading and writing

The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes, which I devoured in four days this week, is a prequel to The Hunger Games by the same author which was, of course, adapted into a series of films starring Jennifer Lawrence (who I would love to have drinks with and ultimately be best friends with). Anyone who loves the Hunger Games - books or films - should 100% read this book which follows a younger Snow, pre-presidency and explains quite a lot about why he's so ducked up (see what I did there?).

Away from lazing around reading books, Woods has the physio coming this weekend to give him a once over before I start jumping again. I don't think there is anything dramatically wrong with him but I just feel he's a bit tight in places, which isn't uncommon for him- he's not a spring chicken anymore and one diagonal in particular is known to get quite tight.

The eggcitement I feel for potentially jumping and maybe even flying off the yard onto new soil is UNBELIEVABLE! I tend to be a bit rubbish at "properly" training when I don't have anything to work towards and often a week can go by and I'll realise I haven't even been in the school. Having the potential of going to a competition or training seems to have re-focused me, so it's back into a proper riding and training routine next week, as long as all goes well with the physio tomorrow. He also might need his mane cut before we venture out of the hen house.

This is how Woody feels about freshly cut silage fields

Anyways, I'm going to duck out for now and quack on with some work before I retire to nesting on the couch for the evening - minus my wine btw, I'm four weeks T-total and have no idea who I am anymore!!

That's enough nonsense from me, back to business...

Sarah x
