Meet The Cavaliers - Fiona MacKinnnon

Each ‘Meet the Cavaliers’ blog will focus on one of Apt Cavalier's biggest fans, from those who have been with us from the very start to some who literally have one of every item in our collection.

Today we are getting to know Fiona, who I finally had the pleasure of meeting at Forgandenny last weekend. I spotted her a mile away in the SJ warm up as she rides the most strikingly beautiful horse I think I have ever seen in the flesh!
So let’s get to it…

AC: Who are you and where are you based?
F: Hi I’m Fiona from Banff Aberdeenshire

AC: Can you tell us a bit about your horses and what you do with them?
F: Littlehill Cody is a family bred horse rising 9 – we’ve had him since he was just 5 months old. I competed both his mother and grandfather before him and eventing is very much our passion. Cody just loves his Cross country and we moved up from BE90 to BE100 last year for his last 2 events and I am so thrilled that he didn’t have a fault cross country all season.

Freddie, the big beautiful black horse belongs to a friend and client and is currently competing at BE100.

AC: What is your ultimate equestrian goal?
F: Our ultimate dream would be to compete in the 2* at Blair Castle International however at the moment we would love to qualify for BE100 at Blair. We can still dream about FEI in the mean time!

AC: What was it about Apt Cavalier that made you want to invest in our brand?
F:It was the amazing colour of the Royal Blue Performance Skin which first attracted me to the brand. I also really like that the products are UK made and high quality. A friend recommended your products and every time I teach her she is head to saddle pad in Apt clothing!

We ride in Blue because nearly 2 years ago a friends second cousin was diagnosed with bone cancer at just 11 years old and I gave Megan Cody to own and ride. Sadly, Megan past away in September 2018 hence our major fund raising efforts for Willberry Wonder pony, and now I ride in her favourite colour which is Blue. I'm since got MJD embroidered on the arm of the Performance Skin as I've always ridden with “For Megan” on my colours.

AC: What is your favourite Apt Cavalier product and why?
F: The Short sleeve Baselayers (Grey Training Tee) is my favourite as I love the warmth when you need it but they also keep you cool with the mesh on the back. But I still love the blue Yard Jacket.

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to us and hopefully see you, Cody and Freddie out eventing again soon!
