10 Reasons Watching From Home is Better

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet news article image

Okay, it's Christmas 2021 and COVID sucks. We all know it; I'm just saying it.

I don't think any of us thought we would be in this situation with cases going up and advice on restricting households being dished out again.

That being said, it's fantastic that Olympia, sorry, I mean London International Horse Show, is going ahead this week. Bravo to all the staff and organisers for getting there and ensuring the show is as safe as possible for all the visitors, exhibitors and competitors.

To those enjoying the festivities in person, stay safe and have the best time. For the rest of us, who wanted to be there but couldn't for whatever reason, never fear; we are giving you a few reasons why enjoying the highlights from the safety of your own home is a reason to celebrate this Christmas.

Firstly, thank you to the TV gods for blessing us with BBC coverage; it will be SO SPECIAL to see equestrian events back on mainstream TV... well, the red button, but close enough. Coverage kicks off tonight with the Puissance competition, aka. "The Big Red Wall" at 20.55. How high will they go tonight?

So, without further ado, here's why watching the action on TV is way better than attending in person...

1. Your sofa is (probably) a lot comfier than those cold, hard, fold-down red seats in the auditorium.

2. There will be no car parking drama and no "are you sure we are on the right tube?" arguments.

3. You (probably) won't have to queue for the toilets at home, and there should be plenty of loo roll!

4. You don't have to wait in line for an hour for a tiny portion of chips that costs more than your Christmas turkey.

5. You can buy a bottle of wine and pop it in the fridge to enjoy throughout for the same price as a glass of bubbly at the show.

6. Your commute to bed is much shorter after Santa's finale.

7. You don't have to wear a mask, and you don't have to worry about that pesky virus.

8. You won't be pushed and shoved while trying to grab those last-minute prezzies in the shopping mall. Pssst, Apt Cavalier isn't there this year anyway, and we are still shipping Christmas orders until Monday lunchtime.

9. You don't have to beg or bribe your friends to look after your horses in this questionable winter weather while you are away.

10. If you need an action replay of the puissance wall falling, you can simply pause and rewind as many times as you like.

So, slide into your leggings, grab a Christmas jumper and your tipple of choice and enjoy!

PS It goes without saying that we LOVE real-life shows and support events when we can; please take this post with a pinch of salt and a sense of humour.
